I learned that a long time ago—which is partially why coaching became my passion.
You see, we live in an era where replication and restlessness is constantly muddling the mission of our work … everyone wants to be the next so-and-so, right? I believe you need to be the next YOU. It’s time we get brave, be ourselves, and build our businesses sustain-ably.
The truth is we’ve gotten very good at assessing our need for certain kinds of help. We hire nannies. We see doctors. We have housekeepers, mechanics and even the yard men who ensure our sprinklers are set appropriately to the season. But, when it comes to creating our lives and our businesses, many of us find it necessary to trial-and-error our way through it, never thinking about how a coach could bring clarity, perspective and momentum.
I found my niche in the world when I decided to bring all of myself to my work. When I left the corporate world in 2010 to go out on my own, I had no idea that 8 years later I'd find myself serving on the leadership team for a tech company in Portland, OR while managing communications for a local non-profit, growing my coaching practice, and continuing to raise a family here in Columbia, SC.
Though I find myself with too many balls in the air from time to time, there's not a single one that doesn't allow me the opportunity to add more money, meaning and self-expression to my life. My days have a rhythm that suits me, and I have time to spend cross-training my creativity and spending time outdoors.
Don't tell anyone, but most days I feel like the luckiest person I know. And, I want you to feel that way too, which is the foundation of my model: Luminary Hustle - for anyone ready to design a life and business that truly lights them up!
