How To Build an Email Course
Today, I launched my new email course, Take Flight, and I thought I'd share how I built it in case you'd like to try building one yourself.
Why did I build an email course and decide to offer it for free?
Offering a free email course full of useful information and actionable tools is a great way to create fans and grow your list. I'm also passionate about helping would-be entrepreneurs find courage to take the first steps in launching a business doing what they love.
How did I decide what to include?
I made a list of ten actions that could be accomplished in less than 15 minutes that would create positive momentum towards launching a business. These became the topics of the ten emails that make up my course. To write each email, I added my own stories, client stories, photos - and even created several worksheets to support the content.
What tools did I use?
MailChimp is my favorite email marketing platform. I love it because its lowest cost plan also includes amazing features - like automated campaigns. My email course is built using the automated campaigns feature. Within the campaign, I've set up triggers that send one email every day for the ten days of the course.
Squarespace is where I created a landing page for my course using a Cover Page. Squarespace integrates with MailChimp, so that when someone signs up for the course using a form on the landing page, they are automatically added to the course email list in MailChimp.
I also found some awesome code that sends those who sign up to a custom thank you page. If you'd like to see how it works, sign up and see it in action :)
